Stain Removal Process
- Act Quickly - The longer the stain is allowed to remain, the more chance it has to set.
- Know what kind of stain you are working on as well as the type of fabric so you can choose the best product. Consult the list above, but if you are in any doubt, call us on 0800 328 11 45.
- Remove as much excess stain as you can by blotting or scraping using a blunt instrument like a spoon or a pallet knife. DO NOT rub it in.
- Test all fabrics and carpets before cleaning by spraying a small amount of Chem-Dry Professional Strength Spot Remover/ Chem Dry Stain Extinguisher or Chem Dry Grease & Oil Remover on a hidden area, then blot it dry using a white towelling towel and observe for 10 minutes. Make sure there is no carpet dye transferring onto the cloth and that, when dry, there is no visible discoloration in the area you cleaned.
- Work inward from the edge of the stain to keep the stain from spreading. If using Chem Dry Grease & Oil Remover, flush any excess solution out with either Chem Dry Professional Strength Spot Remover or Chem Dry Stain Extinguisher.
- Call Kennet Valley Chem-Dry on 0800 328 11 45 for expert spot and stain removal if these efforts do not work.
- Have Kennet Valley Chem-Dry apply our Chem Dry Protector with every clean to give you the best chance for removing stains.
Listed below are some cleaning products we recommend that you never use on your carpets:
- Bleach - This may sound obvious, but we do come across a lot of carpets that have been damaged by products containing bleach. These may work on your laundry, but never use them on your carpets.
- Multi-purpose cleaners - Some of these have a high pH, which can also damage carpet fibres. Detergents in these cleaners also have a tendancy to lock stains into carpets.
- Dishwashing/laundry detergent - Both of these are far to harsh for most carpets and will probably leave a sticky dirt attracting residue.
Only use Chem Dry products on your carpets to remove spills and stains. Products like the World Famous Professional Strength Spot Remover ™, the Chem Dry Stain Extinguisher™ and Chem Dry Grease & Oil Remover™ have been specially tested to ensure they have a neutral pH guaranteeing they do fantastic job without risking any of the above.
